Australia Needs More Media Diversity, Not Less

The Federal Government's proposals to ease restrictions on one company owning media outlets in the same area are a step backwards.

We want more media diversity, not less.

At the moment  in many localities of Australia only two or sometimes one organization controls the main printed media in the area, and no variety of political views  are able to be expressed - the public only get to hear one side of a story.

Both major parties are afraid to attack the media magnates because, despite the myth of "one man one vote", our media magnates have an influence equal to one million votes come election time. They  can make or break governments.

Labor & Liberal play lip-service to the myth of multiculural "diversity" how about divertsity in ownership of the means of communication as well?
