What Our Soldiers Are Doing on the Streets of Dili Our Police Should Do Here

Australian soldiers in East Timor are disarming the gangs, confiscating  their knives and guns and dispersing violent mobs with tear gas.

Great.

Why aren't our police doing that with the gangs here?

There are more guns and knives on the streets of Sydney then there are  in Dili, but here our NSW Labor Government and NSW Police stay in a  constant state of denial, despite the fact that it is commonplace now  for young criminals to
spontaneously produce a knife or gun when  involved in a fracas or confrontation, as if they carry them at a matter  of course.

It is obvious the tough medicine the Australian Army is dispensing in  Dili is working, and that they command respect. The reason is that  they have been given a mandate to use whatever force is necessary.

Contrast this to our politically correct Police in NSW, where the trash  we have on our streets can harass, intimidate, rob, bash, shoot and  stab as they please, because they fear no reprisal.

A recent case in point was the "pogrom" inflicted by middle eastern  urban terrorists on the suburbs of Cronulla and Maroubra on the night of  December 12th, for which none of the perpetrators have received any  significant charges.

Yes, Australia has done a lot for East Timor, but just as charity begins  at home - so does law and order!
