That's a Good Idea, Tony, But One Nation Thought of It First

"We propose a system of district community hospitals run by a hospital board."

This doesn't come from the latest Howard Government press release, it comes from One Nation  Health Policy that has been in place for years.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald of 2nd October,  "Mr Abbott will demand the states establish a board with a chief executive officer for each of the nation's 750 public hospitals."

So this is yet another example of the Coalition taking another sensible One Nation policy, as with the abolition of  ATSIC, the Citizenship Test, the offshore detention of illegal immigrants and a host of other positive  initiatives, when an election is in the offing.

We might also say, whether Labor or Liberal is in power, no progress will be made on Health until we stop employing poorly trained foreign doctors who can't speak English, until nurses begin  their training in hospitals instead of being sent straight to university and we tackle the social problems of drug and alcohol dependence and obesity which are increasingly taking up  valuable hospital bed space.
